About

I am Marina Dowden, a self-taught artist from Prague (the Czech Republic) working with variety of painting mediums such as soft pastels, acrylic, oil.
I started my career path as a teacher of music, went on to study linguistics and after my graduation became a teacher of English only to discover later in life that it is art that fascinates me the most. It is painting that gives me the opportunity to experiment, to explore, to experience feeling of freedom. There are no walls, no boundaries in art. Starting from scratch I have taught myself how to paint using both Acrylics and Oils combining various styles and mediums so that I could become a better artist.

I draw inspiration from nature, travelling, music, books, films, memories and photography, from other artists and their artwork. The painting style that captivates me the most is impressionism that aims to depict the transience of light, and to capture scenes of life and the natural world in their ever-shifting conditions.

My fans say I create from heart. My passion towards artwork over the years has helped me develop a style which is constantly changing and evolving. I have been exploring many different types of painting subjects recently, but I have always been drawn to painting landscapes and still life.
